Today we will introduce a high school thinking routine used for current events news articles. Stories may be in the form of text, audio, or visual. Some days stories will be selected for you and will be incorporated into classroom discussions. In other situations, you may be able to select your own story according to certain criteria that makes it relevant to high school learning in a social studies class.
The story today goes along with the visual posted in the blog above. It connects to an annual U.S. holiday celebrated with many traditions. However, this holiday has long misrepresented the basic story line from the accurate historical facts of its origin, and the story relates directly to current issues regarding racial discrimination that our nation struggles with to this day. Below is the link, which is also shared in the google classroom REACT document. The link requires that you gain access through me. It will be shared this first time in our whole group activity. Future readings will provide you with the instructions to login without my assistance. Open the google classroom document: REACT | The Real Story of Plymouth.
