Socratic Seminar Description Socrates, a Greek philosopher, believed that the most empowered students are the ones that have mastered thinking. Socratic Seminars offer you the opportunity to expose the thinking that you do through discussion. A Socratic Seminar is a group discussion about ideas. These ideas are formulated after reading a common text. These ideas are discussed by asking questions, offering answers to questions, formulating connections, and reflecting about the learning that took place within the discussion. Learning Goal: Use facts and information regarding a current event in the United States as a platform for civic engagement via political activism.
